browders
I determined today that I am sorely in need of a new blade for my bandsaw. I use it primarily for re-sawing boards and have been using a 3/4 inch blade purchased from Grizzly. Nothing special about the blade. I was wondering if anyone has favorites they recommend, and/or suggestions for what I should be looking for. Thanks in advance, Jim amazingkevin
oldhudson
I've had good luck with these: http://timberwolfblades.com/ I used to re-coil blades when I switched between sizes but IMHO that bending modifies the shape and causes quite a lot of vibration. Once I open now I leave them open. Edited November 4, 2015 by oldhudson browders, tomsteve and Lucky2

Kev, It's a great way to make efficient use of wood. Of course when the blade gets dull, it tends to head off towards the peach orchard like a drunk sailor. Suddenly my attempt to bisect a board goes awry. Jim tomsteve
Lucky2
I use the Timberwolf brand also, they're great resaw blades. Len tomsteve
NC Scroller
I resaw on a 14 Grizzly with riser block. The machine really lacks the power as many 14" saws do to use a 3/4 resaw blade effectively. I use 1/2" Woodslicer brands from Highland Hardware. jblock9907
I'll tell you one NOT to use. The $6.00 blades at Lowes do not last very long. I broke 2 resawing basswood. I'll tell you, they don't make $6 like they used to. tomsteve
Sycamore67
I use 1/2" Wood Slicer blade from Highland Woodworking like was mentioned above. One of the things to consider is that with bigger blades you need to increase the tension. My saw could handle a 3/4" blade but have not needed to as the 1/2" works great for me. I resaw up to 8" wide boards.
Phantom Scroller
Jim you should be able to sharpen the blade at least five times on the bandsaw check out the videos on YouTube I use a Dremel on mine and it works a treat save a few pennies as they say. Roly this is the way I do mine. Edited November 4, 2015 by Phantom Scroller tomsteve and browders
Hawaiilad
Jim, I agree you should try sharping your blade several times. I remove the blade and use the bench grinder. I have used it to sharpen my 1/2 & 3/4" and it works great. I put a red mark at where I start so I don't get lost. My blades are 105" tomsteve
heppnerguy
I never knew you could sharpen those blades.. I just throw mine away will have to check that out.. Jim, if I wanted to ask anyone about resaw blades, I would ask Jim Finn. He uses his bandsaw to recut almost every day, as he makes those absolutely wonderful and beautiful inlayed boxes that he sell so many of every year. Jim Finn
I do resaw a lot of cedar and maple. (about 400 board feet a year). I use a 1/2" carbide blade 3 TPI that I get from "Supercut". Their gold professional series. Mine are 105" and cost less than a Woodslicer and last a LOT, LOT longer. I use about two a year at $25 each. I need to look into sharpening some of my dull blades. I certainly do have the time for that in the winter.
