Falcon Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 That is a great pattern and great cutting. I think a lighter background might bring it out. Quote
ONELUNG Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 great cutting Think lighter would really bring out the cross from background Quote
merlin Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 Very nice indeed...............ah yes as stated a lighter background wood be better..................Next time................... Quote
lawson56 Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 An Awesome job  .Just Beautiful cutting.I do have to agree with whats been said above.Golden Oak maybe? Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 Nicely done and like the others I think a lighter background would set it off really well. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote
vykus Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 I hate to disagree with ya'll but my impression of the piece is that it is one piece, no backer piece. I like it the way it is, gives a gothic feel. Quote
oldhudson Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 I like the dark oak. Feels old worldish, it's been hanging in the dinning room for two generations. Great choice of stock and color. Quote
Gordster Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 Very impressive, I believe the picture does not show its real beauty...I like it as it is. Quote
penquin Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 Great cutting. Looks super, would love to see some contrast between the backer and the cut part but it is still one good looking work. jim penquin Quote
kardar2 Posted November 3, 2015 Author Report Posted November 3, 2015 Well to tell the truth I actually don't like this cross so dark it is 1 inch thick and cast a lot of Shadows I hung this up on the wall the dark hides a lot of of the detail. I going to take a picture with other one not stained. Thank you all for the nice comments Scrolling Steve 1 Quote
orangeman Posted November 3, 2015 Report Posted November 3, 2015 Maybe cherry would work better? p.s. we went through Gilroy once. Love garlic! Quote
Sparkey Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 (edited) August Cross. Very nice job cutting. I made some out of purple heart and some out of cedar. I liked the cedar crosses the best. Edit: my wood was 3/8 inch thick. Edited November 4, 2015 by Sparkey amazingkevin 1 Quote
wombatie Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 Beautiful looking cross, unfortunately a lot of the design is lost in the dark wood, what a shame. Marg Quote

Well the darkness of it gives a very old look to it ,A real treasure from the past!Nice work Karl ! You've really got something there,Add a story to go with it,from midevil times in a castle far away!     Quote
frankorona Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 Great work, looks very well done. Quote
penquin Posted November 4, 2015 Report Posted November 4, 2015 Believe Kevin got the best answer. The darkness of it gives it a sort of old world look, like it was make a long time ago and has aged somewhere and developed this wonderful dark color. Like it again. jim penquin Quote
kywoodmaster Posted November 6, 2015 Report Posted November 6, 2015 Very nice work. I am like Kevin I think it gives an old world look to it. Quote
bobscroll Posted November 8, 2015 Report Posted November 8, 2015 I like your cross! Great job on scrolling! Bob Quote
heppnerguy Posted November 10, 2015 Report Posted November 10, 2015 i guess you got the message about using contrasting colors for piece and background.. it is a very nice pattern and you executed it well. I would have used a thinner wood and a contrasting background but I am not sure I could have cut it as well as you did .. Dick heppnerguy Quote
