Happy News for me

I have a pretty nice little 16 X 16 foot shop with a small wood burning stove in it so scrolling in the winter is quite nice for me, even when there is snow on the ground and the temperature is in the 20's or lower. but here is the good part. Last week I inherited an additional 12 X 20 foot area to my shop. it is actually  two areas that are separate from one another. In my new area I have moved all my bigger sanders, my planer, band saw and table saw. I also have my router and a large compressor in that room. That means all my big dust makers are now apart from my scroll saw area and my assembly, gluing and finishing area. How great is that ? I still need to develop my new area to get it set up as I want it to be, and add some more lighting to it and build me a work bench out there but that will have to wait until the new year as I am very busy with Christmas things right now. so how lucky am I? I think really lucky

A very nice inhertance Richard and I'm sure you'll use it well. Let's face it, the workshop is never big enough. At least that's what the wife says.LOL.  Enjoy it Richard.

Congrat's Dick.  I would settle with the 16 x 16 to myself, that would be heaven.  I share the garage with Terry, he gets 3/4 of it and I get a 1/4.  I have 2 small pieces of bench space unless Terry takes pity on me and cleans off his work bench for me.

Great news on the additional space. My table saw, router lathe and sanding stuff is in a separate room right behind my scroll saw.  You are going to really enjoy it. Does it have heat for the winter?

Wayne,

what actually happened was I have a double garage that is partitioned off into two equal spaces..i used to park our spare car in one any our daily used car in the other. We also have a large storage building that is 24 X 60 where I also have 2 spare bedroom built for out of town guests overflow when the house becomes full. the other day, my wife suggested that I park the spare car in the big building and use the sectioned off part of the garage for my a separate shop area. I thought that sounded like a great thing and that day I moved my large sawdust producing machines our there and put up a couple more lights. Now my scroll saw room is kept much cleaner and open for my finishing and assembly work with way less maintenance do to lack of excess dust created there. and in reply to your question about heat the new shop area, the answer is no, but it just does not get very cold there, for some unknown reason.  we will see as winter sets in though

Always good to have lots of room,  Good for you!

I have a 13'x23' shop for my sawdust making, a 40'x30' garage for my truck and wood storage and inside that garage I have a 12'x10' metal shed that I only do finishing in. Only my dusty shop is heated tough, so I wait for warmer days to do any finishing.  (It does not stay very cold here in Texas.)

Enjoy your newly added space.
