savethebeer
Several months ago I asked for advice about a homemade frame for a plaque for my Daughter on her wedding. Two of you gave some advice but it still took another month before I decided on my own design. I did this ages ago but I could not show you till now because the wedding is on this Friday and I did not want my secret getting out through the web. The plaque is ply [don't know what type] that I stained then sanded back to the wood. Its backed by dark red felt. The frame is a different ply [and I still don't know which type] that is unstained. I stack cut the two sides and then cut the names and date in the top piece. I am a painter and decorator by trade, and I came to wood only lately. I have huge difficulty cutting neat joints. I find it impossible to do a straight cut [see the two corners] so I had to cover up the corners with a Claddagh symbol and a rose. DWSUDEKUM
Excellent job on that. Mitered corners with a scroll saw is difficult to do to say the least. Great idea for the overlay on the corners. I am sure that they are going to really like that. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW
LarryEA
The color matches the wood you used. Your corners are fine. The saying is well cut, as are the names. You did a fine job. Nice piece you finished as a gift for your Daughter and her husband.

GrampaJim
For most people, making frames is hard. For me, impossible - I just buy mine. That said, you did great.
kardar2
You did great it looks very nice. I found out a long time ago people really like the home made items. Cause it is made with care and love. There is no other one in the world like it. There are is a nice little accessory saw that you can buy that is not very expensive. And it will give you a true 45° angle. So if you are going to make more of these or portraits you might consider buying one. Good day
