Ridgid Or Dewalt?

I want to upgrade my 12" sliding miter saw, I have an off brand which has treated me well, but all of us men want the best they can afford & thought I might buy myself a good Christmas present this year.........been looking at both Ridgid & Dewalt brands........Ridgid has the best warranty(lifetime), but I think Dewalt saws are better quality......can anybody weigh in on this?

Dan go to the WOOD Magazine site and search under miter saws.  There is a review from 2007 that selected the Bosch 3912 and the Dewalt 715.  I am sure you can find write ups in the other WW magazine sites like Popular WW.

If it cuts wood that's all you need but a lifetime warranty Is hard to beat! :cool: :cool: :cool:

I own a Dewalt, I've had it for over ten years and it still works perfectly. I also owned a couple of aftermarket brands, one of them lasted for about twenty cuts, then burnt up. The other wasn't accurate enough, and no matter what we tried we couldn't get it right on. I have been thinking of buying a new saw, but, I don't use the saw all that much nowadays.

I have a ridgid and I am happy with it. I will say the back up the warranty very graciously.

I've had a Dewalt for approx. 10 years and have never needed warranty.

Whatever you buy make sure to make a hood for dust collection.  Biggest dust creater in the shop.

No matter what one you get remember the blade does the cutting.  The blades that come with most miter saws are fair at best.  Invest in a quality blade that is designed to used in a miter saw.  Miter saw blade teeth have a different angle and shape (pitch and hook) then table saw blades.

My miter saw is a Delta and I have had it over 15years and it still as good as it was when i bought it. never had any problems.

 I have a DeWalt I bought in 2000.  I use it every day.   Still runs true.

I used a Dewalt for years at work and they are a great saw. The Rigid warranty is hard to beat. At home I have a Hitachi and it also cuts perfect angles. Good luck with which ever way you go.
