Are they still cutting Rimu or is it no longer cut for timber?

Looks like Merlin knows the wood you are using. I will google it to learn more.  Love the color of it and the depth of it when you give it a finish.  Great looking cut. Thanks for sharing it.

@DWSUDEKUM Rimu is protected now but small quantities are milled under permit.  Generally I buy from an architectural salvage yard or find pieces at the local rubbish tip.  The hearts have all been cut from drawer sides from an old chest of drawers.

 

@penquin Rimu is lovely.  Wikipedia has a good write up and google images has some great pictures too.
