Anna Anderson Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Hello all ,me and my fiance have gotten into scroll sawing and have had some successes and well let me say some firewood has been created. We have started off with cutting Christmas ornaments for our first tree together and let me say they are wonderful. My fiance has come across some compound cuts and well hes not a 3D fanatic and his work is great. We got a piece of wood and let me say even our table saw doesn't like to cut it. Any help on how to cut Jatoba wood (Brazilian Cherry) will greatly be appreciated? We both currently live in PA and well in the winter guess there isn't much to do is sit down at a saw and get lost in your cuts. lawson56, Scrolling Steve and bobscroll 3 Quote

LarryEA Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Anna and Anthony.... Welcome!!! Enjoyed reading your INTRO. Jatoba, I had some Jatoba once. There is no real help on cutting Jatoba. New blades, go slow. Maybe metal cutting blades and maybe someone who cuts MDF will tell what blades they use Quote
bobscroll Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 Hello Anna and Anthony, Welcome to the village, Thank you for the intro, Will see you later, Bob Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted December 8, 2015 Report Posted December 8, 2015 A big WELCOME both from me. Have fun. Roly Quote
heppnerguy Posted December 9, 2015 Report Posted December 9, 2015 Welcome. i am unable to answer your questions on the wood as i use only common local woods. But I am glad that you have discovered the fun of scrolling. Maybe a less dense wood would be a good place to hone your skills. It sounds like you are rather ambitious and not afraid to try most anything.. Good luck, Hang out here and someone will most likely know about the woods you are asking about here.
