Frank Pellow
I prepared some text to introduce myself and it's in a Word document, but I can't seem to get that text the paste into this text entry area. Is that, perhaps, something that is disabled when one is making their first post here? Frank Pellow
Travis
Some other people have had that problem too. SSV isn't blocking it, however. They just switched web browsers. SSV works the best with Google Chrome or Firefox. Have you tried using the paste function in the compose window? The one on the right should paste from MS Word. Frank Pellow
I tried that among other things. Let me try it again right now: NOTHING I got a message asking me if I wanted to allow access to my clipboard. I said that I did want to allow it but, still no Paste happened. It's a mystery to me. I don't think that I have ever had the paste capability not work before and I have been using it on both a Mac and a PC for almost 30 years. I'm certainly not prepared to switch browsers so, maybe, I will need to give up on posting much here on the Scroll Saw Village forum. don in brooklin on
It would not work in edge even though I said okay to allow access to clipboard. I tried again with a picture in chrome. Posts the test not the picture Edited December 8, 2015 by don in brooklin on

Frank Pellow
Don, I'm not expecting to be able to copy photos this way. But, since I am keying text into a text window, I certainly be able to copy text from anywhere and paste it here. It's worked that way with almost all programs I have used for many, many years. LarryEA
Frank, looks like you don't have a problem posting. Wosh I know what was wrong, but with that said, WELCOME
JustLarry
I posted this using copy / paste from MS word in Win 7. I did have lots of problems getting on some of the wood forums when I was using Internet Explorer. Switched to mozilla and problems went away. Frank Pellow
It's not just text from Word that is the problem. I can't even cut text that I have already typed within this box then paste it back somewhere else. I am able to cut it using <ctl>X but then cannot paste it using <ctl>V. Now that lack of capability is just plain astounding to me! It's as confusing as if some car manufacturer reversed the placement of the clutch and the brake in a car. Both the cut/paste and the clutch/brake combos have become natural actions to me that I don't need to think about. By the way, I do seem to be able to cut and copy here then paste what I have cut or copied into Word. It's just paste here that is screwed up. Travis
Seems to be a problem with Internet Explorer. Lots of people are having trouble with copy and paste (https://encrypted.google.com/search?hl=en&q=IE11%20can%27t%20paste). There really isn't a good solution from what I can tell. It seems most people get frustrated with IE and switch to Firefox or Chrome. Here's a workaround, though. In the upper left corner, click the icon that looks like a light switch. This will take you into BB Code. You can paste your text there. It will strip away all of your formatting (if you created any). Then click it again to get back into your formatting mode. Frank Pellow
OK, I will try that: "I’ve owned a scroll saw, an Excalibur EX30, for 12 years but, until a couple of months ago, had only used it for a total of about five hours. ..."Great, it works. I very much appreciate your help Travis. Travis and bobscroll
jerry1939
Hi Frank, I also have Windows 7 and MS Word. This is how I do it: click START NEW SUBJECT Scroll down to the bottom left and click BROWSE On left, you get a new screen for you to choose where you want to look. (DOCUMENTS)(PICTURES)? Select DOCUMENTS or PICTURES, scroll to what you want to post and double click your choice. On the bottom left click ATTACH THIS FILE Little circular arrows will chase each other for a few seconds. When you see a tiny "photo" on the bottom left, it is attached. When I am satisfied that it's attached, I type the SUBJECT and any message I want. Hope this helps Friend, jerry
