Travis
I've had to remove a number of patterns from a member who has been grabbing images from copyrighted sources and claiming them as their own. Remember that copyright infringement is a serious offense. The copyright owner has the right to press charges and file lawsuits against the offender. If you are basing your pattern on someone else's photos or artwork, make sure the image is in the Public Domain or licensed under Creative Commons. If you have permission to use the images, make sure you're prepared to prove it when asked. We really take copyrights seriously at SSV. We want to protect the rights of every artist, no matter the medium. Sometimes these are posted in ignorance of copyright laws. In those cases, we quietly remove the patterns and send the pattern designer an email explaining why it violates copyrights. But when it becomes an blatant offense, your account will be closed, your patterns deleted and you'll be banned permanently. Here's a few resources that might be worth looking at. There are a lot of folks on SSV that are very familiar with copyrights and how they work. We really want to make sure that you have access to quality and legitimate patterns. Thank you for your time.
