Popular Post Scrappile
MikeWix posted his Eagle back on Oct 21 and when I saw it I knew I had to do it. I had a nice piece of black walnut, which I used, and maybe that was a mistake. It would be way too dark if I put a finish on it. So I will not. I will probably always wish I had used a lighter wood. Anyway this is my attempt. The pattern is from the "Scrollsaw Wppdworking & Crafts" magazine issue 60. jamminjack
Very well done indeed. I think that piece of Walnut has beautiful grain pattern, and just enough blond in it to give it character. A very challenging piece, and you knocked it out of the park. Thanks for sharing. Scrappile
I did not know that, Spirithorse. Must say thank you Mr. Buzzelli for allowing the magazine to publish your great pattern. I notice he is even from the same state as I am. heppnerguy
Paul, There goes another spiral blade super cut. . I can't wait to get to your house and watch you in action at your saw.. You are truly a master with the spiral. I am not sure if I am teachable, but if so, I may turn more to my spiral blades too Dick heppnerguy
Scrappile
Dick, sorry I had to miss the opportunity yesterday. It would have been fun. Let's make it happen after the Holidays. I'd still like to see Heppner and your workshop also.
penquin
Scrappile, that is awesome, WOW it looks great. Just wondering if the wood is to dark could you mix up some water and bleach and lighten it a bit but still keep the grain pattern? Just a wild idea not sure how it would work. Love the eagle as done but if you want to do a lighter one this might work. Thanks for showing us this one, looks great. jim penquin Scrappile

Thanks for showing us Fab4 Thank you,,,,, I think If someone has the patience to cut several less detained patterns, why not one larger detailed pattern. It is all one hole at a time. Thank you all for the nice comments. Fab4, amazingkevin and tomsteve

I like the darkness as it is unfinished, but I know if I put BLO/MS on it it will turn twice as dark. I know because I saw how dark it was when I wiped it with MS just to clean the sawdust off. Vector01
Fantastic! Great form and detail. I went back to 1/4" baltic birch ply. Has a nice light colored wood. If I need to darken, couple of coats of clear will darken. Scrolls on left were cleared, on the right no clear.
