You did a fantistic job. I admire your talent cutting this.

As for the  "no finish/finish";   

The wood will darken with age especially unfinished. 

IMHO, lacquer would be the finish to keep it more the shade it is.....

Fantastic work! That took a lot of patience.......I agree, a better wood choice would have taken it to the next level......but this still looks great!!

Paul you did a super job on the Eagle. As far as trying to bleach the walnut I say leave it as is, you can't get it any better then what ma nature gave you to start with, it looks great without a finish. What is the next project? always look forward to seeing your work. Mike

I have also wonder if black walnut can be bleached.  I like the darkness as it is unfinished, but I know if I put BLO/MS on it it will turn twice as dark.  I know  because I saw how dark it was when I wiped it with MS just to clean the sawdust off.

i believe there is a way to add a finish without darkening it. im sure i read it somewhere. ill do some digging and see what i find
