Fish
I finished a few more. The walnut box is done on the scroll saw. It's five 3/4" pieces and would be a very pretty if I had enough from the front piece for the whole box. It has an amazing grain. The small log or branch actually is from a piece of fire wood we had in the back yard. I did this one on the band saw. The larger oak box was done on the band saw also. It came from some old oak my brother gave me and maybe came from a barn, it sure smelled like one. I finished each with semi gloss poly. I'm giving that one to my daughter for Christmas. I finally received a book on scroll saw boxes so that's the next project. Comments welcome.. bobscroll, Lucky2, Fab4 and 2 others
DWSUDEKUM
Excellently done Dan. Boxes are fun to do. I see that you flocked one box, I tend to flock them all. I think it adds to the overall effect of the box. However like I was saying well done. Thanks for sharing them with us. DW Fish

scrollerpete
Very nice boxes I really like the natural one out of a log, excellent idea way better than the stove. Fish
Fish
Working on the boxes I have found that a 1/8 inch blade works much better you just have to go very slow.. I used an olsan blade, 1/8" .018 14 teeth per inch, hook style and the set is ETS.
kywoodmaster
Great work on the boxes. You are right that Walnut is beautiful. What is the log box made of? It looks like Osage Orange (Hedge Apple) or Locust. Fish
Lucky2
Nicely done Dan, but, I can see that you still have a bit of sanding to do on the one in the last pics. It looks as if there was a double cut done, and the saw blade mark needs to be sanded out. Len Fish
Fish
Thanks. The log is poplar. The marks in the wood are actually stains in the wood.
