Here's a moose skull silhouette that I cut out of 1/8" masonite scrap with a bit of white paint added to make it look like bone.

I personally am not a broncos fan, but my wife is. This was cut out of 1/4" ace hardware plywood and the painted with acrylic. She thought it was cool as heck.

Painting this was a pain in the neck. If anyone has any tips to make it easier I'm all ears.

The picture doesn't show it, but it is a segmentation piece. I stack cut the two layers along the outside. Separated them and then cut the inside of the top overlay. The ear, eye and nose pieces are floaters that were glued down. Everything was painted then glued together. I used a brush this time, maybe next time I'll try spray paint. The moose head was one piece with just the skull portion being painted. Thanks everyone for taking a look and for the suggestions.

Here's a different angle showing the two layers. This is actually the second one that I made. It will be a Christmas present for our daughter that lives in Colorado.

Much better view Chad. Your daughter will difinitely be pleased. Re: painting I find an air brush does a fabulous job.

A rattle spray paint can would simplify the painting job ,seeing as the pieces separate from each other.I like your idea to do it this way.Good clean detailed job!

Hi, Bandito,

Another manner in which to cut this as a segmentation piece would be just ONE layer, cut the orange area out of the blue area.

Now cut the white area out of the blue area. You will still have three blue pieces with-in your white cut out. Cut those blue areas out.

God Bless! Spirithorse

Now paint each piece individually and then glue them back into one layer. A backer board is optional but, probably advisable.

I too have painted a few pieces and I liked them, but my wife did not. Sometimes. painting just gets the work done when you just do not have a variety of woods to use or none of the woods bring out the pattern as you want it to. So in this particular piece, I think I too would have painted it. Wood Duck segments and paints almost all of his work and i never stop  enjoying every post he makes. He does use an air brush and is very good with it, but I feel you guys are a little harsh on Dave. I think if everyone did every piece the same, it would be a little boring to look at the posts. Just this man's opinion
