jbrowning
Hello everyone, so I have been using pinned blades on my 16" H.F. Scroll Saw. I purchased and adapter kit to make it easier to use non pinned blades. http://www.pozsgaidesigns.com/page0006.htm item# 5 - EZ Set Blade Holder System used with 16" Scroll Saws. My question is how do I attach the blade to the adapter? I tried doing the bottom clamp, but it seemed like the blade would either bind or fall right out. Do I screw the hex screw into the saw blade to hold it in place? Will I still have this same problem if I spent the money and got a more expensive scroll saw? Thanks Jim
LarryEA
Inspect it: Look for adjustments on the new clamps. You need flat surfaces on both side for the blade to be clamped to Will I still have this same problem if I spent the money and got a more expensive scroll saw NO. well... Most likely not. jbrowning and Scrolling Steve
ike
for what you have in the 2 items you could have bought a much better saw. I would bite the bullet and buy a better saw. buy the best your finances will allow. jbrowning
tomsteve
"Will I still have this same problem if I spent the money and got a more expensive scroll saw?" welp, first id change the phrase to higher quality scroll saw. dont get me wrong. i have harbor freight tools in my shop and am quite happy with the ones i have.however, the scrollsaw isnt one of hf's gems. will you have the problem getting a better quality ss? it would depend on the brand.i would encourage you, if you are looking to upgrade, to research ss reviews online. thetes reviews on this forum along with others http://www.scrollsaws.com http://www.sheilalandrydesigns.com/articles/scroll-saw-selection http://lumberjocks.com/reviews/category/36 and i think steve good has reviews, too. dont let this discourage ya! i started with a craftsman, got hooked after i got the hang of it, then the saw started falling apart, which led to an upgrade to a 788, which made scrolling a LOT more enjoyable jbrowning and LarryEA

Thanks Jim I see it came with instructions,(which i'm no good at understanding).Maybe have a friend take a look,Yes something needs to screw up against the blade, probably an allen head screw. Can you take a close up picture of the problem for us to see?I was not happy with a harbor freight machine ,my friend either,i returned mine and he threw his away. jbrowning
jbrowning
I'm actually very happy with the scroll saw using the pinned blades. I have had no problems. Now also keep in mind this is the only scroll saw I have ever used. So what I have done is put the original pieces back on along with a pinned blade and cut out a tree with no problems. So I guess I will keep this scroll saw for the pinned blades......wait for it.......wait for it......I also ordered a Dewalt Scroll Saw off Amazon on Sunday. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow so I can play with it over the weekend. So I will have two scroll saws in case someone wants to play with one. Sparkey
Congrats. I started with a Ryobi and got the Dewalt a couple of years ago. It's like night and day. You will love the DW saw.
