I am Danny from Villa Park, IL. Originally from French Lick, IN. I have had my old Vintage Delta Milwaukee scroll saw since about 1980. Used it back then to make cartoon cutouts that I painted and hung them in my kids rooms. Have not used the saw in a long time. I overhauled it this past fall and am ready to start scrolling again. My scroll saw uses the plunge type spring tensioning and works Ok I guess. It is challenging using a spiral blade as I cannot get anymore tension because I am at the limit. My real interest is in Intarsia and looking forward to getting started on this project. I am learning as much as I can on species of woods and colors as well as stains. Any of you have or have used the old Delta scroll saw? let me know please. My Granddaughter is getting the bug too, Hurray. Happy New Year 2016

Welcome to The Village. We are glad you found us and we all hope you log on often. Explore everything you can find and ask any question that might come up for you. I know zero about your saw so i can be of no help to you there but as far as spiral blades go, you can see by the posts that many detest them. But the ones that do use them accomplish unbelievable results with them. This year I am making a big effort to use them more and hopefully become proficient enough to grab them for the pattern I want to cut that to me is crying for the spiral to be used on it. I believe one can learn to use any blade well, if they are willing to take the time to use them. so what ever your choice is in a blade, go for it. The thing that matters is that YOU enjoy using it. If you were to ask, 'What is the perfect blade' you would get a different answer from almost everyone here. Blade are a matter of success for the user, as to which blade on prefers. When you buy blades, pick up a new one and give it a try, that way you will learn the one YOU  like best.. Hope to see you around here often
