scrollerpete Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 Made lot's of boxes recently and I had all these inserts laying around, I decided to use it for what I call "Redneck Coasters". I have 2 coats of Tung oil for the finish and I glued some cork under in order to protect the furniture. Better than the wood pile. Also I just finish cutting the maple leaf trivet posted on the site, excellent pattern and easy to cut. bobscroll, Fab4 and amazingkevin 3 Quote

Fab4 Posted January 7, 2016 Report Posted January 7, 2016 Hi Pete: Good idea. It's amazing what you can do with the scraps for certain projects Thanks for showing us Fab4 Quote
heppnerguy Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I would have never thought of making something from the 'left overs' I get. I just chuck them in my wood burning stove to keep the shop warm. May have to give that some more thought. Do I use my, otherwise scrap to make other new projects or do I continue to burn them and scroll in the warmth of my shop ? Great Ideas Dick heppnerguy Quote
wombatie Posted January 8, 2016 Report Posted January 8, 2016 I love it when nothing is wasted. They look great and nice shapes too. You did a fantastic job on the trivet. Well done Pete. Marg Quote

Lucky2 Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 Pete, that's a great repurposing of scraps, it's far better than burning them. Len Quote
Scrappile Posted January 10, 2016 Report Posted January 10, 2016 Nice stuff. Great use of the scraps. I really hate burning scraps of good wood. You could easily tell that if you saw my shop. I have lots of little scraps. Keep thinking they will come in handy if I ever get brave enough to do some intarsia. Quote
