heppnerguy Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 I was thinking it was about time I put something on my Facebook page so people knew I was still alive. I went to the Steve Good page and immediately found a new pattern that I liked. the outside if the piece looked pretty slim and very breakable but I thought, 'Oh, well, nobody will probably purchase this one any how." So i posted it and put $18 on it. If I do end up selling one they just might look at my scrolling page and purchase something else too. Well as luck would have it, I received 2 orders almost as soon as I posted it. Our friend Ralph from Aloha, Oregon text me and said something like OH Boy $1 an hour. I thought he is probably correct. It did take me 3 hours to cut one. I did use 3/8 inch BB ply and I was smart enough to state that at this price I would not be putting a finish on it so the customer was open to do whatever they wished to. Anyway, here is the end results Dick heppnerguy Lucky2, Young_Scroller, bobscroll and 1 other 4 Quote
wombatie Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Very intricate and time consuming. Hopefully people will buy something else that is less time consuming so you can make up the difference money wise. Apart from that it looks fantastic and you did a very impressive job. Marg Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Nicely done Dick. I think it might need a backer to give it some strength. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote

I had not cut it and was not sure until I cut it tonight Dick heppnerguy Quote

I think you under sold your work at $18 dollars, someone got a very, very nice bargain. Rob Roy. Quote
LarryEA Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 I agree w/Rob Roy. Doing that in 3 hrs is impressive to me. NIce piece you made Dick. Quote
Gordster Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Very nice project.....I shied away from this one so far.......Hard to put prices on items like these....You spent 3 hours and even at 10 dollars an hour plus costs would put the price way out of the park...well worth that price but they just will not go for it. Scrolling Steve Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Very well cut !.....Nice! Quote
bobscroll Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Very nice piece of scrolling you did there Dick! Thank you for letting us see, Bob Quote
rjR Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Dick,That would take me 10 hours and then some. Happy for your sale! Quote
penquin Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Looks great. Not sure I would want to ship it looks like it could break quite easy. Have to package it with protection on both sides. Good luck, but a great cutting. Thanks for showing it to us. jim penquin Quote
Sparkey Posted January 12, 2016 Report Posted January 12, 2016 Very nice job cutting. I like it a lot. Quote
heppnerguy Posted January 12, 2016 Author Report Posted January 12, 2016 Because of the thickness of the wood, it is surprisingly strong. I think it would survive a shipping. However the first person I sold to agreed to a backer board. So happy about that Dick heppnerguy Quote
newfie Posted January 13, 2016 Report Posted January 13, 2016 Excellent cutting thanks for sharing Quote
heppnerguy Posted January 13, 2016 Author Report Posted January 13, 2016 Both of the people that ordered this piece agreed to the backer board. So I am happy about that. Should have them both in the mail today or tomorrow, at the latest. Things always work out. Thank you all for your nice words and great suggestions Dick heppnerguy Quote

heppnerguy Posted January 14, 2016 Author Report Posted January 14, 2016 I cut the second one today and actually timed myself as the first time I posted (3 hours) was a guess. The one I cut tonight I timed and it took me exactly 2 hours and 14 minutes. not too bad..it looks way more complex than it is to cut. Dick heppnerguy Quote

I only sell my things so I can purchase what i need so I can continue to scroll for free. These 2 pieces with the backer board ended up costing me $15 to make and ship both of them so that gives me another $35 which will buy me several patterns or a gross of blades or more wood. I am happy about that, as i do not even need any of these at this time.. Dick heppnerguy Quote
Young_Scroller Posted January 14, 2016 Report Posted January 14, 2016 looks really good, not surprised you got orders for it Quote
