heppnerguy Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 I made this plaque that turned out to be a new experience for me. I cut it with a spiral blade because of the thin font. I struggled a lot with the blade on this one and I had to join two pages because it was too big to print out on one. I intersected the pages and though I spray glued the back of the pattern I overlooked gluing the two halves together where they overlapped and as I was finishing up, the pages separated and the overlapping page started fluttering as I was cutting out the 'a' in Psalm and it caused it to break out. But I thought I was OK with that small error. maybe I should not have been Dick heppnerguy neptun, lawson56, Dan and 2 others 5 Quote
Lucky2 Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Dick, you did a fantastic job of cutting the written part, it's to bad that the center of the "a" broke. Len Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 That is not bad Dick. Spirals take some getting used to. Thanks for sharing this with us. DW Quote
lawson56 Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 I agree you done a Fantastic job Dick I have tried Spirals many times.Oh the mess I made. Quote
Gordster Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 You turned it out perfect.....the letter A and letter E always have a mind of their own when making word art such as this... Nice cutting with the spirals Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 You did a good job !.....For me spirals are only used on portraits ! Quote
fredfret Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Cut a small circle and glue it in the "a". 1 small error does not make it designer firewood. Fredfret Wichita. Ks Quote
Falcon Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Good job! Patience and a light touch with spirals. Quote
Dan Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 Great pattern Dick! The font is beautiful and looks great scrolled. Lower case e's are a pain also. I keep a glue stick handy. When patterns are printed on multiple pages I join the pages with the glue stick before gluing to the wood. Quote
bobscroll Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 I think you did really well Dick, It looks great! Bob Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted January 26, 2016 Report Posted January 26, 2016 I HATE SPIRALS did I say that out load. Not bad for a novice spiral user better than me. Roly Quote
wombatie Posted January 27, 2016 Report Posted January 27, 2016 I'm with Roly on this, I HATE SPIRALS also. But compared to my efforts Dick yours are absolutely awesome. Maybe keep the spirals for pictures rather that lettering. Marg Quote

I usually use a glue stick also, but this time I forgot to, until the pattern was on the wood. my bad....as they not say Dick heppnerguy Quote
smitty0312 Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 I have no experience with spirals.......but that looks ok to me........ Quote
Scrappile Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 Dick, I have had that problem with the overlap on a pattern. Fact I had it with the latest loon picture I just completed. I didn't forget to glue, but it didn't stick well and started coming up. I put a strip of clear packing tape over the seam to hold it. I do not really like to use the clear tape but it helped in this case. I think I need to find some new glue. What I have been using is a bottle that I do not know how old it is but I found it in some junk when cleaning out the basement. It could be 20 or more years old.... Quote
