browders
A friend of mine retrieved two 1 X 6 boards a neighbor was planning on taking to the dump. He wasn't sure what the wood was, only that judging by the weight it must be a hardwood. He though perhaps hickory. It kinda looks like hickory, but I'm just not sure. Any ideas? Thanks, Jim amazingkevin
heppnerguy
My wood knowledge is really not very good . Has the color of Alder too. Whatever it is, it looks like a good wood to put under your scroll blade. Dick H heppnerguy
Dan
Maybe cherry? Lucky2
Ron Johnson
Not sure Jim but I do agree with Dick that it has the grain similar to Alder. Fine piece of wood for a fine project.

browders
Well thanks folks. I guess I'll never really know for sure. I agree with Scrolling Steve though, the price was definitely right. I've started on a project with it and it is a joy to cut. Jim
stoney
Jim, if it's a joy to cut I think you can rule out hard maple. It is a beautiful piece though I would take it in a New York second. Enjoy it and please show us what you use it for. browders and sullyscroller
