Dan
After drilling a few holes with a Forstner bit I got tired of cleaning up the mess... shavings everywhere. The dust collector isn't accessible to the drill press so I had to put on my thinking cap. I cut a 2" piece of PVC about 1-1/2" long and just set it over the 1"hole I was going to drill. Almost all the shavings stayed right there, in the PVC. This may not be new to you but it was to me. Larry A. Blakely
Great idea! I've been using my hand all this time!
LarryEA
Dan, It worked!!! Got to be a good idea. I also bypassed all the chips in a different way. I used the Forstner bit to score the wood. I then used my scroll saw to finish the hole. A whole lot less dust and chips. dgman
Smart man Dan! Great tip for everyone. I do have my dust collector hooked up to my drillpress, so it collects most of the shavings when I'm drilling.

I have tried editing my post three times... here is my edit: If you don't want a hole all the way thru..... You have a grand idea.

WayneMahler
Glad to hear this, a neat idea. My dust collection reaches my drill press so I don't have this to worry about. Just like my jointer, r placed a trash can under the exit to collect the shavings, less mess. Thanks for sharing.
