Frank Pellow
I asked this question towards the end of the thread: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/topic/17611-old-mill-old-barn-experiments-with-spiral-blades-and-with-staining/and received a few replies but I expect that a number of people will not have seen the question there, therefore I am repeating it here.QUESTION ABOUT STAINING STYLEI looked for examples of other scroll-saw scenes similar to the Old Mill and the Old Barn where this type of staining has been done.As far as I have been able to tell, I may have come up with a slightly different artistic technique. There are many different scroll saw "drawn" scenes that I can find on the internet, but none of them have been stained different colours. All the ones I can find are either two shades of wood or a wood foreground and background of a single colour.I would appreciate hearing from anyone who can point to others who done something similar and/or who can confirm that I have hit upon something a bit different. Ron Johnson
The old barn and mill are fabulous Frank. Excellent cutting, staining and really love the frames. What you're doing and enquiring of I've not either had much luck finding in searching. My closest finding was of a scrolled scene with different colors of ink paper that had been added for the sky and ground. Keep on with what your doing and experimenting because your not seeing much of it if any. My preference is painting with the exotic hardwoods in marquetry (samples attached). Frank Pellow
Thanks Stu. First of all, I really like what you have done. It's considerably different than the technique used on the Old Mill and Old Barn, but it is the closest that I have seen.
