Chris_2009
I have a Shopsmith scroll saw and it has started to vibrate pretty bad. It is mounted to a base and weighted with weights. I also tightened all the bolts on the table. Do you guys have any ideas?
WayneMahler
I'm not familiar with the shopsmiths. I would start looking for things that may be worn or have excessive play. Here is a link for the manual if you need it. http://www.shopsmith.com/ownersite/productmanuals.htm And one for a parts list. http://www.shopsmith.com/service/scroll_saw/scroll_saw_diagram.htm Hope this helps some. tomsteve
kywoodmaster
I am with Wayne don't know much about that brand but vibration usually means something loose or bent. It hasn't been drooped, hit or other wise had an accident has it? tomsteve
ike
I don't know anything about the mounting of a scroll saw on the shop smith . but that's where I would start you might try a little ruber between the saw and the shop smith. It really cuts down on vibration on other saws. NC Scroller
Sounds like bad bearing. The trick will be to find it and replace it or at least grease it.

Dan-Woodman
Seems like I heard at one time that some of those saws had a defect. Something was cracked somewhere. It might have been on the Shopsmith forum.
oldhudson
I've had a Shopsmith since '82, although I don't have the scroll saw. (I've replaced the belts once and the switch twice in all those years.) Head over to the Shopsmith forum, there are lots of knowledgeable folks there and I know some of them have the scroll saw. Here's a link: http://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/index.php?sid=3aa8049804a76c7a5b66148eb3e06caf And you can call customer service, they are still made and serviced - customer service is pretty good most days. I don't have the number at hand, but I'd be glad to look it up for you.
Chris_2009
Sorry for the very delayed response. I have looked on the ShopSmith forums before with no luck but I should create and account and ask the question on there. I have emailed their customer service with no response but calling them would probably be good. Thanks everyone for all of the input.
