Denny Knappen Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 Nicely cut dog puzzles. Are those Judy Peterson's patterns? Quote
Montserrat Posted February 20, 2016 Author Report Posted February 20, 2016 Thank you. The cocker spaniel is from her book. The greyhound is actually from the pattern gallery in our forum. But I have another question: in the German scroll saw forum I was critiqued (I am not offended, but want to get better) about problems with the cutting. In my defense I would like to say that the dogs are standing up and not laying down so that there are shadows where the pieces are not exactly flat i.e. in line with each other. I would appreciate, however, feedback from you guys, too. thanks Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 Don't listen to them your doing well. Just keep at it. Roly Quote
amazingkevin Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 Since both birthday girls are dog owners... Looks like a win win project! Quote
FranMike Harley Posted February 20, 2016 Report Posted February 20, 2016 Great job on both and I like the contrasting wood on the 2. Very nice. Thanks for sharing Quote
kywoodmaster Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 They look good to me. You might want to try a smaller blade. It will help make thr joints a little tighter. Quote
Montserrat Posted February 21, 2016 Author Report Posted February 21, 2016 I used a #5 on the greyhound and a #3 on the cocker spaniel. the wood is 3/4". think I can go smaller? Quote
Lucky2 Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Monti, personally, I don't see anything wrong or out of place with them. I like to display my puzzles in the standing position also. It doesn't make all that much difference in the way the pieces line up, it's not something that most people would notice. You will find that there is no suiting everyone, so you're bound to find a few negative comments along the way. Cut to the best of your abilities, then, if that doesn't suit people just pay them no attention. Len Quote
Montserrat Posted February 21, 2016 Author Report Posted February 21, 2016 thank your for the encouraging words. I much appreciate them! Quote
dgman Posted February 21, 2016 Report Posted February 21, 2016 Very nice work Monti! I often display my stand up puzzles standing up with the pieces deliberately out of line with each other to demonstrate that it is a puzzle. I see nothing wrong with yours! Quote
wombatie Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 They look fine to me, just keep doing what you are doing. After saying that I did think one thing, I don't know the age of the girl with the greyhound but if she is a bit rough with her puzzles she may break off the tail because it is a bit thin near the body. Thats it no biggy. Marg Quote
Montserrat Posted February 22, 2016 Author Report Posted February 22, 2016 Thanks Marg. Both girls were celebrating their 30th birthday... Quote
bobscroll Posted February 25, 2016 Report Posted February 25, 2016 Very good scrolling there Monti! You did a neat job! Bob Quote
