Ron Johnson
Fabulous work Bob. Can you give a brief description of your process? Thank you.
bobcol
Ron, the Mobius ribbon consists of 2 x1/2 and 10x1/4 bowls which are cut on the scroll saw using the bowl from a board method. I was shown this method by Spencer Bloom who created this in 2012, he has instructions on his pages on Patrioticwoodworker and Lumberjocks, worth a look as he took out a major scroll sawing award that year with his Mobius. The gluing up is the tricky part and I did get different results in the first 2 photos. The additional scroll sawing and carving was an idea of mine. Accuracy in the cutting and gluing of the sections is crucial for getting a neat final join. Hope this covers it. Spencer's user name on Lumberjocks is "SAWTOOTH",
orangeman
That's very nice. Impressive! Fighter jets use the moibus strip concept to sneak up and attack those that follow. Cool if you could cut fighter jet figurals into the ribbon. bb
