amazingkevin
Hold down on the top arm with out a blade in it and lift the blade holder up and down to see if there's play and go from there. Do the same for the bottom blade holder. That's how i localized my dw problems. Edited February 23, 2016 by amazingkevin

ubgoofy2003
I have had to make an adjustment on the tension rod, in the upper arm. It was making a knocking sound & after adjusting it, it was OK. Not sure if that is what your problem is, but, it could be. Good Luck
LarryEA
You know you have to take it apart....especially if you cannot isolate while running.

One problem i had was to take it apart and then look for the problem not good. On the dewalt a smidgen of play here ends up a lot eslewhere.Best way it to locallize where the problem is while it's together.

You take screws out, you put them back in. There are no adjustments ... no adjustments... for play or no play. Noise mostly (underlined) comes from bearings. Geeze, you remove screws, a cover and see the insides. Edited February 23, 2016 by LarryEA

Buy localizing the play in the parts ,you find the problem in the front of the machine or the back of the machine.I do this check without the machine running. If there's slop in the front it's been the blade holding mechanisms, but if it's the back i've found the nut completely off the hidden side of the connecting rod off the motor on a few machines (dewalts i've owned) type 1also repacking the bearings give new life and quiets the machine tremendously for years

So get real.... you have to take it apart. and that's what you are NOW saying.
