Dave Monk
Very nice job Marg! Looks like tedious work to me. It appears that your daughter buying you the silver might have you hooked on something new. dave wombatie

dgman
Great work Marg! Can you tell us how you cut the silver? Do you sandwich it between plywood or just cut it by itself? Do you have to sand and polish it? wombatie

Dan
That is amazing Marg! You have turned that small piece of silver into a treasure. Do you do much sanding on the edges? It looks so finished, more than a scroll saw can do. wombatie
wombatie
The piece of Silver that my daughter brought for me is 4 1/2 inches x 2 inches. I have some paper stuck to the underside with Sticky Roll paper that you can get from The Scroller Ltd. ( Sorry I Have forgotten the proper name of it ) I find what I would like to cut and attach in the same way on the top. Because I have enough silver to hold onto I don't need a jig. I use 2/0 jewelry blades to cut and turn the speed down low. When its cut I sand the piece with some very fine sanding pads that i got from www.alphaabrasives.com 3000 being the finest., when the sanding is complete I wipe the silver over with some rubbing alcohol, this takes away any sticky residue that may be left. My daughter's got a soft mallet made from plastic I think, and I hit the item I have cut a few times both sides and this hardens the silver without marking it. With the hand held Dremel I polish the silver with a wire brush and then rub some auto polish for mag wheels and aluminum on and buff it off with a buffer in the Dremel. At this stage it will go black but that's OK just keep buffing it will soon shine up. Then wipe over with a baby wipe and dry off. Finished. Hope this helps in some small way.
