Laser Location

I had a laser on my bench drill that I never used so I transferred it to my new EX21 ,When the top arm is in the raised position the laser is focused on the hole in the table. So now all I have to do is line up the cross hair on the drill hole in the pattern & know it is directly over the table hole. The batteries & switch are on one side of the top arm & the laser gun on the other. The photos might make it clearer.Cheers Peter

"Grease monkey Redneck" one of our members deplores using a laser for any scroll saw operation, especially to drill a hole.Personally i love anything that will save me time and frustration scrolling .The foot switch has been the best thing i ever got for the scroll saw.Guess i'll have to get an ex to try this one, thanks

Peter that really appears to be a great idea.  One reason I don't top feed is in very detail scrolling/fretwork I can't locate the hole in the table from the top.  I also have my table covered with masonite so I can have a much smaller hole than the one in the original table top.  This may be the answer.  You sir have a great mind.  You should perfect it and start selling them as an attachment.

Glad this might be a solution for you, I must check at the hardware shop to check out there range of lasers that might be adaptable .Cheers Peter

pretty clever. does the vibration of the saw effect it??

No Clayton the actual lining up of the holes is done before the saw is switched on & when lined up for the next hole with the arm raised again I found the laser to be pointing in the same location over the hole in the table. The laser is switched off between setting up for the next hole.
