woodduck
I had a laser on my bench drill that I never used so I transferred it to my new EX21 ,When the top arm is in the raised position the laser is focused on the hole in the table. So now all I have to do is line up the cross hair on the drill hole in the pattern & know it is directly over the table hole. The batteries & switch are on one side of the top arm & the laser gun on the other. The photos might make it clearer.Cheers Peter NC Scroller, jbrowning, oneleggimp and 3 others
dgman
You're a genius Peter! I have actuality thought about this, but I don't have a problem finding the hole in the table. woodduck

DWSUDEKUM
Neat idea Peter. Work up a holder that works and installs easily and market it. DW woodduck
Lucky2
Good idea, but, you would have to make sure that the upper arm always stops in the same location. Len woodduck

Lucky2
OK, I was thinking it was set in place not to be moved. Len woodduck
Phantom Scroller
Good idea. But with my luck I'd probably burn a hole in the table by fitting the wrong type of laser. Roly woodduck

Scrappile
Peter that really appears to be a great idea. One reason I don't top feed is in very detail scrolling/fretwork I can't locate the hole in the table from the top. I also have my table covered with masonite so I can have a much smaller hole than the one in the original table top. This may be the answer. You sir have a great mind. You should perfect it and start selling them as an attachment. woodduck

Clayton717
pretty clever. does the vibration of the saw effect it?? woodduck
woodduck
pretty clever. does the vibration of the saw effect it?? No Clayton the actual lining up of the holes is done before the saw is switched on & when lined up for the next hole with the arm raised again I found the laser to be pointing in the same location over the hole in the table. The laser is switched off between setting up for the next hole.
