Ninuninu
Good evening Good People Just got these two dreamcatchers cut. As is usual for me they are both my patterns, along with the feathers and all, and everything was cut using a fret saw and not a scroll saw. I will also post the pattern for them so if anyone would like to try to make a couple please go ahead. rjR
Being one of those was my first adventure many years ago --(called coping saw then) -- I do knpw how much work that is and that it does take more skill than a scroll saw does; so I upgraded! Very nicely done and excellent work! No electricity or batteries required either! Ninuninu
hotshot
Tony, which fretsaw are you using? I have a Knew Concepts brand and really love their clamps which have a feel similar to those found on better scroll saws. There is a lot of control with the these hand saws, but it sure tires the arm out. -------Randy Edited March 10, 2016 by hotshot Ninuninu
Denny Knappen
I can't imagine using a fret saw. That is really called handmade. Ninuninu
FranMike Harley
Those would be great if you DID use a scroll saw.. But by hand, Oh my, they are FANTASTIC !! You have quite a talent there.. Thanks for sharing !! Ninuninu
Ninuninu
Hey Randy, sorry can't really help regarding brand names. I bought my fret saw from a small corner hardware store. Alas in Malta it is not so easy to find things as in the States. I love using my fret saw but as you said it is a strain on the arm. rdatelle
Lot of work by hand. They look great though. You could really knock them out with a scroll saw. Ninuninu

Lucky2
Randy, both of these cuttings are impressive, it's even more impressive that you did this work with a hand held fret saw. How popular is scroll saw work in Malta, is there a market for your work? Len Ninuninu

How popular is scroll saw work in Malta, is there a market for your work? Len Scroll work is not in such a high demand over here but I do get a couple of orders here and there. Only been at this a few months now so I am still trying to put my feelers out and introduce more if I can.
Ninuninu
Very nice Tony, i like the eagle best, but both are great. How long did it take you to cut one out? Russell Thanks Russell, well it took maybe an hour and 15 minutes to cut out the dreamcatcher but the real problem was the feathers. Being so small and fiddly, I did wreck a couple before I got the desired result. Each feather took over 30 minutes each to cut. Tony
