Travis
I must say that I'm getting rather discouraged. I just found someone in the UK that is bootlegging my Inkscape and GIMP DVD's on the UK eBay. They even took my complete eBay listing word-for-word and product shot to post their auction (I also sell the DVD sets on eBay). Granted, the videos and tutorials are free to download. But I use the money from the DVD's to offset the substantial cost to run this website (and sister sites). I reported it to eBay. Who knows if anything will become of it. Just makes me wonder if its all worth it.
Vector01
Unfortunately it's a sign of the times. Instead of actually putting some effort into creating their own they steal others works. Along with Ebay I would send an email to Paypal. Since they are out of the U.S. it will be hard to get any legal remedies. I'm wondering if the UK has the equivalent of the better business bureau? You can try contacting the attorney general in your state and ask him/her what remedies, if any that you have. If nothing else this might generate some aggravation for this SH*T HEAD! I wouldn't stop doing what you enjoy. There are a lot of people here who enjoy and appreciate your efforts. I for one am grateful for your time and efforts. I wouldn't have been able to create the pieces I've done without your professional tutorials on GIMP and Inkscape. I hope you will continue to to do the fine work you have been doing on this site. Thanks!
Travis
It doesn't look like he has my GIMP DVD, just my Inkscape DVD. Luckily, I branded the heck out of it, so it will still drive traffic. I just hate the idea of someone making money off my hard work. If anybody has a moment or two, could youreport the auction as copyright infringement? You can find a link that says Report Item. Its on the right below the Seller & Item Info. Its hard to say if anything will happen because of it. The best I could hope for is they'll suspend his account. Looking through his other auctions, it looks like he bootlegs a lot of woodworking stuff. I see some magazine archives that sell for $40-$50/DVD and he's selling them for 10 pounds. Obvious that he's copying them.
Vector01
No problem! I placed a complaint, copyright infringement!

I hope you keep the site going maybe you will have to have your videos and tutorials just on the Scroll Saw Village just a thought hope he gets what he has coming to him Wade
yost69
Well at least they thought it was good enough to steal and sell. On a serious note I did try to report them to ebay but apparently I can't register on the uk site with a us address. Do you recognize the seller name so you at least sold a copy to them? or did they copy it off of a friend. Ben
cyclistjim
I submitted the report to ebay! Hopefully they will pull the listing

Barry5180
Sent my report in as soon as I saw the link on Facebook you posted. I hope that all of these reports going to E-bay will end with a positive result for you. Stealing the work of others really ticks me off. Wish there was more I could do. Travis
...been on other sites and this has happened there to. the sad part is the pattern maker that this happened to quit offering his patterns everybody suffers from the action of 1 person. I hope you keep the site going... Don't worry, I'm not going to do anything drastic like shut down the site. I'll just have to change the way I do things a bit. Naturally, I'll do everything in my power to shut down illegal sales. I'm pretty good at tracking things/people down on the internet. We'll see how it goes. Travis
Thanks for the help, everybody. The auction is still going. Its hard to say if anything will happen because of the complaints, though. I'll keep an eye on this user and his auctions. Unfortunately, I can't set up a UK ebay account (you have to have a UK address/paypal account), so I can't message the user. I'll have to keep hounding ebay about the copyright infringement. That's the best I can do. Hopefully something will be done about it.
Dan
I couldn't find the place on eBay to report them so I sent a message to the seller and chewed them out. Probably won't do any good, but I sure feel better. I hope they get slammed by eBay.

Dan
I sent a message to the seller about apparent copyright violation and this is the response sent back: "no because I made this video my self om my computer". I find that funny because on the eBay listing it says "This is the complete class taught at Scroll Saw Village and is still available to download for free on the website." Not sure what this person's thoughts were, but the item is still listed.

First off, the video is in NTSC, which is not the format Europe uses (they use PAL). So its not even viewable unless you have an expensive converter. Plus he copied all of my copy and pictures from my ebay auction: http://cgi.ebay.com/Making-Scroll-Saw-P ... 3358c5dce7
Dan
Looks like eBay removed that listing.
Travis
Ahhh...that's great news. I'm hoping that he won't list the item again, especially when he got called out on it. Not sure if he pulled the auction, or ebay.co.uk did. Either way, I'm glad to see its no longer available. Thanks for the help, everybody.
