cmarsch
That is what Lowes is selling in place of the original "Luan". It is their Low Grade underlayment for finished flooring. If I am not mistaken I beleve one side is primed.
Dave Monk
I have been using it for a backer. It is listed at our store as underlayment. I thought is was made of Luan. dave

Lucky2
If this new product is the same as Meranti, I won't be using it, I don't like using Meranti. It's brittle and it doesn't stain evenly, and if painted the color of the wood bleeds through. Plus, at $13.00 U.S. per sheet, it's already more expensive than Meranti is. I will probably not be using it but I am wanting to hear other reports. I have a lot of respect for Len's opinions, so it makes me a little gun shy at this point Dick heppnerguy
spirithorse
I am not 100% certain but, I think this is the same product I bought several months ago due to the price. The back side of it was backed with paper. I purchased it as backer material for intarsia projects so, it worked just fine for the intended purpose. God Bless! Spirithorse P.s. Just for comparison purposes, I also bought some UltraPly by Moreland Company and it was terrible! It was extremely cheap so, I thought I'd try it for fretwork. It has a lot of voids and splinters terribly. The info they have on their web-site says you can score it with a utility knife and snap it but, it will just delaminate and splinter. If you see this on sale, save yourself some aggravation and money. God Bless! Spirithorse
