GrampaJim
Since I am a top feeder, I want to use this lever on my Dewalt. Especially for the bottom clamp. Has anyone used them and are there any issues? Thanks in advance. Jim
Young_Scroller
Ive never used one but i have heard of people enjoying them, I wouldnt want one because it makes it too easy to strip the blade clamp threads

Jim Nice find, i use a modified clamp knob which makes it much easier to tighten with more leverage.I don't go past 1.5 on the tension gauge on the dewalt and have not even come close to stripping the threads,Thanks for the find. Jim Finn
I have used this item on my Hegners and on my Jet scroll saw with no problems.
breadstick
Anyone have a picture with this installed? Not sure what I'm looking at.
dgman
Two problems I see. One, it does not have a swivel end that helps prevent the blade from bending from over tightening the blade. Second, you risk the chance of stripping the threads or deforming the blade clamp as they are made from aluminum.
Lucky2
They will work, but, the original type would be better. Len
CharleyL
The Wooden Teddy Bear has them, so you can add them to your next blade order. Charley
GrampaJim
Well, I tried one and it is a no-go on my old Dewalt type 1. Maybe mine is different. The length is too short as shown in the picture. Now I know.
cynbone
I tried it out and couldn't use it because it bent the blade and I couldn't straighten the blade enough to get it through the pilot hole. When I eased up on the grip, the blade would slip out.
CharleyL
Look closely at the end of the original wing screw and the end of the new lever screw. The original is very flat, and I believe that it has a pivoting end, so it just clamps the blade without any rotational force. The new lever screw is likely not flat on the end, and even less likely has the pivot piece, so as you tighten it against the blade it is applying rotational force in addition to the clamping force. I believe this rotational force is what's bending your blades. Charley Edited April 4, 2016 by CharleyL
Hawaiilad
Not sure how this clamp will work under the table on a Dewalt 788, but I use them all the time on both of my hegners without any problems at all

EarltheScroller
I bought the knobs from George North that Steve Good recommended and they are great. bygeorge28@comcast.net $15 each so not cheap but worth the price. I don't know how to transfer the pictures over to this thread but you can find them here: http://www.scrollsawvillage.com/topic/17373-knobs/ Edited April 7, 2016 by EarltheScroller
GrampaJim
Well, I tried one and it is a no-go on my old Dewalt type 1. Maybe mine is different. The length is too short as shown in the picture. Now I know. Sometimes the obvious solution is the best! I went to the local Ace hardware and showed them what I needed. They had exactly what I needed with larger ears for tightening. Attached are pix of both the old and new. And they cost me a whopping $4.40 each. And they work great! merlin
Those quick lever ones as for the hegner saw are great but do-not come with the swivel end, have tried in NZ but they have never seen one with the swivel end.................... hotshot
I use the Hegner Quickclamps knobs on both the EX and 788. The swivel end is slightly too big, so I just grind it down slighty in the dremel. For me, best upgrade ever. --------Randy Edited June 1, 2016 by hotshot
