KtownScroller Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 Here is one of my favorite projects. I think this is the second or third pattern that I cut. I would like to try another project like this in the near future. Quote
realfEZ Posted February 15, 2009 Report Posted February 15, 2009 Hi KtownScroller, Welcome aboard! Your work is so fine, would you like to share the pattern?... if I may ask... fEZ. Quote
KtownScroller Posted February 16, 2009 Author Report Posted February 16, 2009 Sorry REAL FEZ. That pattern is from a magazine and cannot be shared. Quote
Travis Posted February 16, 2009 Report Posted February 16, 2009 That turned out great! That would be fun to have around Christmas time. I bet it would make a great gift too. I'd like to give segmentation a try this summer. I've seen some use leather dyes to color the wood. The colors are so vibrant, it really is amazing. Did you use just regular craft paint for that, or did you do something else? Very cool, at any rate. Be sure to upload that to your User's Gallery too! I think a lot of people would get a kick out of that! Quote

Christina Posted February 17, 2009 Report Posted February 17, 2009 Beautiful work Rick..........he's just adorable. You did a great job on him. Segmentation is one of the things I can't wait to try as soon as I can control my saw a bit better. Thanks so much for sharing him with us. Christina Quote
KtownScroller Posted February 18, 2009 Author Report Posted February 18, 2009 Did you use just regular craft paint for that, or did you do something else? Travis - I used regular craft paint ala Michaels/Walmart. I finished the penguin with a couple of clear coats of a quick drying poly. The poly really makes the colors pop! Quote

Just get a piece of wood big enough for the pattern and follow the lines. Do some sanding and some painting. After you apply the paint, the gaps in the pattern disappear. It's actually really cool and not nearly as hard as intarsia work. Quote
AirNationalGuardMom Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 Awesome job on the penguin. Linda Quote
