buddy1227
New to this forum but have gotten many good tips from you guys....thanks. My questiion concerns blades. I do portraits and use the FD Spiral 2/0 blade. It does a great job but I've thrown a bunch of perfectly good blades away because the end keeps snapping off due to the fact that they are not flat end blades. I see Mike (Mike's Workshop) has the #1 and #3 Spiral "flat end blades" for sale. Are either of these type of blades comparable to the 2/0 blade. In other words can I do portraits with them? Any help would be appreciated.....Walter

Travis
Yup. Those blades will work really well for portraits. I've used them before and it works really nice. They fit in the saw really easily without much fiddling. Obviously they're a bit bigger than the 2/0, but I don't find it a problem with my cuttings. For your other blades, I usually use a couple needle nose plyers to straighten out the ends. That way they won't snap when you apply the thumb screws. Marshall
Yes buddy the guys are steering you in the right way for sure , Flying dutchman blades are the only blade I use and I've used just about all the other blades out there . And Mike is the greatest on these blades for information. ............ Marshall
buddy1227
Thanks for the help. I will give the flat end spirals a try and also try to straighten out the 2/0 blades with some needle nose pliers.
greasemonkeyredneck
I use almost exclusively FD#3 spirals for my portraits.
