Dave Monk
Mine does that now and then. I turn it on and off and then it will raise. Must be in a certain spot that it's locked. dave Scrolling Steve and amazingkevin
WayneMahler
Kevin My EX-21 does the same thing. If it won't go all the way up, I press the foot pedal and then it goes. Thinking something to do with the linkage and motor. amazingkevin
breadstick
Kevin My EX-21 does the same thing. If it won't go all the way up, I press the foot pedal and then it goes. Thinking something to do with the linkage and motor. My Dewalt does this and this is how I fix mine. Just tap the pedal to move the motor a bit (just tap a fraction of a second). It will raise after that. While figuring this out, I also found out that if I tap the pedal too quickly twice, the saw will run faster than I've ever seen it. Way faster than if you had the speed knob all the way turned up. If you let off the pedal and wait a second it will go back to regular speed, but this has happened a few times. amazingkevin

Never double tapped my foot pedal. I'll try tomorrow and see if it does the same thing, just out of shear curiosity. I know the Ex's and 788's share a lot in common with features. This should be interesting. I have both pedals, the one that came with my Ex and the one I used before purchasing it.

FranMike Harley
Must be a common issue then 'cause my 788 does the same thing once in a while.. And here I thought it was something I did
Clem
Mine does that occasionally. I do what Dave does turn it on and off quickly. Seems to be okay after that. Clem
Jim McDonald
Everyone has pretty much hit the nail on this one. I think it has something to do with the placement of the arms on the eccentric wheel. Like everyone else, mine does it once in a while and a simple tap of the pedal gets it "free". Scrappile
My Ex does it also.
CharleyL
It has to do with where in the rotation of the motor that it stops. If it stops with the blade position all the way down, there is a cam flat spot where the mechanism won't slide either way off that cam position. If the motor stops anywhere else, lifting the arm will force the mechanism and the motor to rotate, in effect allowing the blade to move to it's full up position. A slight bump of the motor switch/foot pedal will run the motor far enough for the cam to be off of this flat spot, and the arm will lift to it's full up position. There's nothing wrong with your saws. It's just something you have to live with and learn to work around. Bumping the motor position with the power or foot switch is the easiest way around it. Of course, they could have added hardware and switches to your saw to keep it from stopping there, but that would have raised the price of the saw significantly.
