Dave Monk
The last project I showed was repairing a brain fart with an inlay. Actually, I have had a couple of them lately. I liked the outcome enough I thought I would do an inlay on purpose this time. I haven't sold any pieces yet and I question if the inlay will add enough in value to pay for the time and materials. Of coarse most of what we do is for our own satisfaction, enjoyment and ego. This plaque measures 8" x 16". It is 5/8" white oak with a walnut inlay. I used a 1/8 Masonite backer. dave Phantom Scroller, oldhudson, leshko and 4 others

Montserrat
Wow! how thick is that wood? I still need to master the art of inlay... Still very much want to!
Dave Monk
The plaque and inlay is 5/8 thick. My angle was a bit steep so the inlay did not go all the way in but it really didn't matter because I covered the back with a backer. The biggest problem I have is that I need to buy a smaller drill to hold the tiny drill bits. Thanks for all the nice comments. dave Jim Finn

Birchbark
Very nice! Flawless. And you don't have brain farts, its more like Bob Ross used to say, "just a happy accident" Glad it happened, i think you're on to something. Scrappile
Dave, you have found your niche. You do such a great job on these inlaid pieces. You could move on to inlaid names and all... Really nice work. Dave Monk
Denny Knappen
Very nice and tight fitting inlay. Wouldn't be able to replace the "o" with TN though. Too long and narrow. Dave Monk
