wood-n-things
Nicely done. How thick did you made yours? I made a bunch at 1/32" I was surprised at how sturdy they were.
Firedkm
Nice job Tom. What kind of wood did you use?
Dan
Oops! Forgot to say what woods I used. Top to bottom are birds-eye maple, black cherry, and persimmon. I resaw at 1/16" then sand. I don't think they are 1/32" though - that's scary thin. Mike, do you buy them that thin or do you cut them yourself? wood-n-things
Dan, I purchase it that thin my planer and my jointer are to scary to try to go that thin. I think they would explode again...Do not ask me how I know. Still trying to explain the marks in my pants to the Mrs after my last attempt at 1/32 thickness. Dan
Mike, Are these hardwoods that you use? Where on earth do you get them? I keep looking but never found a source. I agree about the joiner. Scary machine. Dan
Christina
You did a beautiful job on these bookmarks Tom.........thanks so much for sharing them with us. I'd also love to know where you got the blanks...........did you cut them yourself? If so, do you sell the blanks by any chance, and if not, could you share where you got them? I've wanted to cut some bookmarks myself but can't seem to find a source for the blanks and can't cut them myself since I only have a scroll saw. Dan
Thanks Christina. I make the blanks myself. Unfortunately I don't sell them. I usually just take left over hardwood scraps and resaw them on the bandsaw. It takes a bit of sanding but I really like the finish and feel.
