jmcgilroy
I'm just getting started in scroll saw work with a Delta 40-694 on order. I hope that was a good choice for a first saw. I'll be looking for blade recommendations and patterns so I can get some practice in. Thanks all for being here, Jim amazingkevin
LarryEA
Hey Jim. Got a great saw. I have a 40-690 & a 40-694 .... Like both. Welcome! Blades,,,, you can order a started kit I think from Wooden Teddy Bear or Slones Woodshop
FranMike Harley
Welcome Jim Fairly new myself, started this past December.. You will find this Community invaluable, as I have.. You have questions - these folks have the answers !! I can't speak to the saw but blades, word of advice.. DO NOT BUY blades at the big box stores.. They will aggravate you.. As Larry mentioned, Wooden Teddy Bear has a great selection.. Personally, I like the FD (Flying Dutchmen) blades.. I "think" many of the folks here also use FD blades (either reverse, ultra-reverse, spirals, etc..) Most important, HAVE FUN scrolling !! Post some of your work when you have it done too.. We'll keep you honest

New Guy
I have the same saw you ordered and think you will be happy. Patterns to start with I suggest going to Scrollsaw workshop. There are many in the free catalog . Flying Dutchman and Olsen blades are the most used by the members here.

Jim Finn
Welcome! I like to mention to new scrollers that there are many different ways to use a scroll saw. Most folks do mainly fretwork. I do not. Some of the other projects done using a scroll saw include: Lettering, compound cutting, bowl and basket making, inlay, toy making, intarsia, segmentation, puzzles, and even making wooden flowers and vases. All are fun.
