Alexander Helbich
Alright guys I finally found a local supplier from where I am, that does hardwood. I was so excited, I had to go out there and get a few boards. Here's the kicker Waiting for the blades in the mail now :( Got 2 boards of each, Cherry, and Maple. 1/2 inch thickness. 6"x5ft Decent for $30? Scrolling Steve
Congrats on the find Alex !....Sounds like a decent price to me !
oldhudson
You got 10 board feet so it comes to $3.00/bf - I'd call that good for cherry and maple. Assuming the wood is clear and straight. Cherry goes for $5/bf and hard maple $3.50. Soft maple is about 4 bits cheaper.
Dan
If you got 2 boards of each dimension then you got 4 boards 1/2" x 6" x 5'. I think that comes out to 5 board feet, so $6 per board foot. That is competitive in price to Rockler and Woodcraft's regular price. To me, if you are happy with the wood, it doesn't matter what you paid. Edited April 2, 2016 by Dan
WayneMahler
You did good. At $3.00 a BF that is not bad at all. Cost more here from a lumber yard.
Alexander Helbich
Awesome - Seemed like a pretty good deal to me. Most likely gunna go back to them and get some different kinds to contrast each wood if need be. Thank guys!

Alexander Helbich
Its called "The wood mill" in Windsor, Ontario. I cannot find thier website, every time I try, its bringing me to a "marina" store website thats beside them. Pretty sure the ones I got, were a special buy they brought in, they still got a few stacks of them.

DWSUDEKUM
Not bad at all. Are you going to have to surface the wood yourself or has it been done for you? DW
Alexander Helbich
He charged me 3$ more to plane them down to 1/2inch. finished wood - One peice has a very nice natural live bark end on it - Might work that into something nice in the end. rjones
If you have never worked with cherry i think you will find it pleasantly nice to work with. It cuts, sands, and finishes very nicely. enjoy.
