The lady that knows everything had me do a project and it was designed wrong. So when i delievered it she shrugged it off and had me change it.The pieces were designed to hold what ever size rigs she makes but would only hold size 16  or 1" rings.I took all back and tried to modifie on the table saw .no go ,Then i tried my 4.5 grinder with 4" saw blade ,no go ,I knew it's going to take my hand planer from the beginning but had no idea when it is .I finally found it and it shaved off on an angle to accept rings of all sizes. The zebra wood needed no sanding at all but the white wood 2"x4" wood needed 80 grit and 120 grit on the dremil mini sanding drum.About 2 hours work .post-1607-0-82657900-1459821621_thumb.jpgpost-1607-0-70203200-1459821640_thumb.jpgpost-1607-0-76846600-1459821657_thumb.jpgpost-1607-0-92361500-1459821673_thumb.jpg

Customers can be difficult at times Kevin. Seeing that I only started this kind of stuff a few months ago and there is not much demand for scrolled works in Malta, when I get an order for a portrait, I normally print out an extra full size pattern an show them that explaining that what they see on the pattern is what they get on the wood. If they like I go ahead because I am certainly not going to spend several hours hand cutting with a fret saw just for someone to say "It's not what I imagined."

You are a good a patient man Kevin!

The customer isn't always right. But the customer is still the customer!

If you want to try and make money doing custom work - be careful. I walk away from jobs where I don't feel a fairly high level of confidence in the customer. I probably miss some opportunities but I haven't been burned.

That is why i am reluctant in taking special orders. some people you just can't please My last one what she wanted dwas fairly simple so i took it and then after I got started she changed her design  on her 3rd change I told her I wouldn't make it.

I hope you made some money on that deal Kevin !

Steve that would be 60 balloons cold hard cash included was the $9.50 zebra wood chunk.I  gave her what was left because i know it will cause the wheels to turn in her head for another project for me!Thanks for looking!
