breadstick Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 Anyone done one of these patterns? I just got mine in the mail today and I saw it said to do bevel cuts around the different sections, but I'm not sure I want to. Anyone here done this pattern without the bevel cuts? Quote
Dan Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I have not done one but it looks like the bevel cuts are to drop the three sections lower. If this is true and you make the cut without a bevel it will fall through. If you don't want to make the bevel just done cut those parts or change the pattern slightly so the pieces don't drop out. WayneMahler Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I'll agree with Dan. Normally bevel cut raise or lower a part, depending on how you cut the bevel. I would think the finished product would not look right if these were omitted. Just my thoughts. Did they give you the degrees of tilt to make them ? Quote
Dan Posted April 11, 2016 Report Posted April 11, 2016 I think this is the pattern her is referring to. http://www.scrolleronline.com/product/Deer-Crosscut-Saw-Wall-Art-Pattern/332 Quote
dgman Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I could be wrong, but it looks like the bevel cuts are done so you can remove those sections to cut the inside cuts in them as most saws won't acomadate the length of the project using flat blades. If you use spiral blade for the inside cuts, you don't need to remove those sections. Lucky2 1 Quote

Bill WIlson Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 From the picture in the link Dan provided, it kinda looks like the panels are recessed into the frame a little bit, hence the bevel cut. Does the backer span the entire length of the saw or does each individual panel have it's own backer? Quote

It's made to be three separate pieces glued together, but someone on a facebook group posted a picture of it one piece and it looks good. Quote
Lucky2 Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 I don't get the reason for the question, you stated that you've already viewed it cut this way on another forum. So, you already know that it's possible to do. All you have to do, is decide which way you want to cut it, bevel or not! Len Quote
