Stephanie Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I used to be big into scrapbooking. I own this little machine called a cricut that cuts out paper objects. You buy cartridges of differnt themes such as disney, holidays, etc. I found that it works well for making patterns for little projects I do with my scroll saw. Have any of you seen one of these work? You should check it out. Quote
Travis Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I used to have a Cricut. It was a lot of fun. I used to use SirCutsALot program for making my own designs (along with Inkscape). Then Cricut sued them and shut down the 3rd party design support, which I assume is so they can sell more overpriced cartridges. Then I boxed it up and been sitting in the closet since. Every once in awhile, I think about buying a new cutter, as long as I can design my own stuff. I'm sure things have changed now where that is a possibility. Lot of fun. I'd like to do some vinyl cutting to add to my projects. Quote
WayneMahler Posted April 12, 2016 Report Posted April 12, 2016 I have heard of people using it. I personally have not. Wonder how detailed it can get? Quote
Lucky2 Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 My wife and a few of her friends are using one right now, they get together every week for some scrapbooking. We have set a bedroom aside for all of the scrapbooking supplies, and it's full to the brim. Len Quote

breadstick Posted April 13, 2016 Report Posted April 13, 2016 My wife has a silhouette machine (same thing) and it's pretty amazing. I haven't used it for sroll saw patterns, but it would be really good for it. More expensive than a regular printer, though. She uses it for stickers (window decals, coffee cups, water bottles) and t-shirt transfers. Pretty decent side business. She designs her own stuff for it, so no buying cartridges for anything. Quote

Just recently got a Silhouette myself. Brilliant machine. Scrolling Steve 1 Quote
jbrowning Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 I was at Joannes today and was waiting on a sales clerk to answer a question and lo and behold I looked around and saw this thing called a Cricut machine on sale for like $270.00 or something like that. I remembered someone on here had mentioned a Cricut machine. Jim Quote
wbr Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 I've had a Cameo Silhouette for a few years and it works great. Pretty much only use it to cut vinyl for sandblasting glass. I've used the software for scroll saw patterns often. Quote
