GrampaJim Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 This is a Mick Shambro pattern that I got from the Wooden Teddy Bear. I have been using oak ply for these kind of projects for a couple of years. But think this would have looked better in BB. Used 3/0 spiral blades and finished with BLO. Denny Knappen Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 I like the red oak. It gives it a more weathered look. The frame really adds to the presentation. Quote

Ron Johnson Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Fabulous work of a very beautiful pattern Jim and nicely framed. I have to agree using Baltic Birch. The oak grain seems to take away from the scene a little. But then this is my own opinion. Quote
Scrolling Steve Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Wonderful job on a great pattern !....Nice work, Jim ! Quote
Rob Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 Great cutting. The oak makes it look a bit like an old sepia photograph. Rob Quote
New Guy Posted April 14, 2016 Report Posted April 14, 2016 That is nice - I like the Oak - Looks great - Some tough cutting on this one Quote
Lucky2 Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Jim, it's an outstanding cutting, I like the look of it cut out of oak. Personally, I don't think it would look as nice, if it was cut out of BB. But, that's just me. If you don't care for how it looks presently, you could try framing it with a border. Depending upon what color you would use, the cutting will look a lot different. Len Quote
jbrowning Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Great cutting Jim. Someday I might try to cut something like that. Jim Quote
Dave Monk Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 I really like the cutting and pattern. dave Quote

FranMike Harley Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Well done, Jim !! Very inviting... I can see that hanging on some one's log cabin !! Quote
Bill WIlson Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Nicely done! I really like this pattern. Something about it just draws me in, every time I see it. It's kinda like a scrollsawn version of a Thomas Kinkade painting. Quote
penquin Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 Very nicely done and finished. I always prefer the oak to BB because the grain seems to give a life to the cutting that is different than a blank wood but whatever you want. The framing is perfect. Great looking. jim penquin Quote
wombatie Posted April 29, 2016 Report Posted April 29, 2016 You did an excellent job Jim on the cutting. I cut this one a few years ago so I know it can be a bit tricky in places to cut, give yourself a bit pat on the back.  Marg Quote
