ricklab Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 Almost done, started this in Jan. A bit more sanding and a finish. Glossy or semi ? I can't decide but leaning towards the glossy. I had many mistakes, covered them up as best I could. Big picture, 28 x 32. Phantom Scroller, Neil Selley, New Guy and 5 others 8 Quote
Denny Knappen Posted April 15, 2016 Report Posted April 15, 2016 What's not to be proud. That is a work of art. As for finish, I prefer semi gloss. Quote

Lucky2 Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 Wow Rick, what an amazing piece, it's definitely one to be proud of. For a piece like this, I prefer either a semi-gloss or flat finish. The problem with a gloss finish, is that it will highlight any and all flaws. I'm not saying that there is flaws in your work, but, with pieces like this it's almost impossible not to miss some little thing. I anxiously await seeing the completed piece, it should be outstanding. Len Quote
penquin Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 That is outstanding. It really looks like you got a lot of time and effort in that and it shows. Great art work. jim penquin Quote
heppnerguy Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 With so many pieces it is difficult indeed to make every piece perfect to the next. I am amazed at how well you did. A tough job and guess what. People will look at this in awe and they won't believe their eyes that you actually made it. Don 't point out the errors to them, so they can just enjoy it and go home telling others about the unbelievable, wood piece they saw at your house. Display with pride Dick heppnerguy Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 Stupendous work of art. Roly Quote

RangerJay Posted April 16, 2016 Report Posted April 16, 2016 That is an exceptional piece - and another vote for at least 3 coats of semi-gloss (maybe more) - then buffed and polished to a soft lustre - you've made a really neat piece - one that someone is gonna wanna display for a long time..
