Ninuninu
Hi to all. It has been a while since I have been on but I hope all you great people are doing well. Must say I missed you guys a bunch. I have been a little busy with my old fret saw and even a couple of new ones and have attached a couple of pics for your criticism. As usual, all made using a fret saw and all patterns were created by me. The first one is 24 in by 10 in by 3/8 in thick out of solid iroko with a simple black backer. Was a bit of a bugger to cut but got there in the end. The second one is my partners' mother that I did for my partners; daughter. Was very pleased to see her nan immortalised in wood. I have a bit of a thing for the X-Men and thought about doing The Wolverine. Personally I am happy with the result. Fourth and final one I got a little ambitious while cutting this ring wraith from Lord of the Rings and was beside myself lest I break off a piece during cutting. Very fiddly to do but it came out a treat. 2nd, 3rd and 4th were all cut in 4mm maple ply. Talk to you again soon. Till then take care all! Ninuninu
I also love your fretsaw work. Great pattern design and cutting. Thanks Denny. Getting a little more ambitious in my pattern making. I find the challenge of portraits relax me so much. Obviously, the actual cutting is also very therapeutic! Tony

Lucky2
Wow Tony, you've been busy. All four pieces look fantastic, when using a fret saw, can you use spiral blades? Len Ninuninu

wombatie
They are all excellent. Your partners mother is image perfect and the last one is VERY delicate, I am sure it was a heart stopper to cut. Great work. Marg Ninuninu

Thanks Kevin. Yes I needed to rest my fingers a while as I had to have some stitches in my finger and was a little worried that I might tear them if I did any work. :( Tony
Ninuninu
Wow Tony, you've been busy. All four pieces look fantastic, when using a fret saw, can you use spiral blades? Len Thanks Len. Am trying to make up for lost time here! I honestly don't know about the spiral blades with a fret saw because I am having a hard time finding them here in Malta. I would love to give them a try sometime but supplies are very limited over here. There is not so much of a following for scroll work here so I basically have to make do with what I find. I normally use a size 3 or 1 blade. All these were cut with a size 3 blade. Tony . Lucky2
Ninuninu
All look great but I personally love the sign. Thanks ky. I am happy with the sign. The largest piece I have cut to date and on solid wood so it did provide a challenge. Tony

The portrait pattern was a little time consuming but came out good and to be honest my heart was in my mouth a few times when cutting the last one. Ninuninu
Beautiful work and I am really impressed with the pattern of your partner's mother. Thank you for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse Thanks Spirithorse. The portrait pattern did take quite a bit of time but I find that the attention to detail pays dividends when coming to do the cutting. When doing a portrait, if it doesn't look like the person then I can't say it is them! Tony
