Denny Knappen Posted May 24, 2016 Report Posted May 24, 2016 Definitely not worth bragging about, but new to me. I asked for a desk name plate on the forum and Roly came up with this pattern. Thanks Roly. I used Poplar. It measures 3/4" x 1 3/4" x 10 1/2". Comments welcome. amazingkevin, oldhudson, Kevin Latimer and 3 others 6 Quote

Barry5180 Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 That cutting looks super clean Denny. I've done word art before and it's definitely not as easy as it looks. Not a lot of cuts, but because they are letters and something we recognize easily, errors in the cutting are actually more obvious. You should be proud of this. Well done. Barry Jim McDonald 1 Quote
dgman Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 I think it's worth bragging about Denny, very nice work! Lucky2 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 Denny, that's definitely a piece to brag on, it looks fantastic. You did a superb job of cutting all of the letters, and the bottom frame is straight and true. That's where you can tell what kind of skill a person, cutting straight lines can be a true test to ones ability. Len Quote
wombatie Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 That looks terrific. You made it look easy Denny even though I know it wasn't, it just shows how well you know your saw and your blades to cut a straight even line like that. Brag away my friend you deserve it. Marg Quote
Denny Knappen Posted May 25, 2016 Author Report Posted May 25, 2016 Thanks for all the comments. Yes, straight lines and circles are a true test. Quote
penquin Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 Well done, what a great idea to help get the letters that drop below the line in on a cutting. Looks super kindly brag away on it, you did a great job on it. Also great pattern by Rolly. Do you know the font that was used? jim penquin Quote
Denny Knappen Posted May 25, 2016 Author Report Posted May 25, 2016 In my pattern request, Roly said the font was Belshaw, I think. Phantom Scroller 1 Quote
Smudger Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 That looks great, nice clean cuts, very well done, if I can make a suggestion, As the names are attached to a base when cut you don't need to have the letters so close together, touching each other, if you know what I mean?. Quote
penquin Posted May 25, 2016 Report Posted May 25, 2016 In my pattern request, Roly said the font was Belshaw, I think. Thanks will look that one up. jim Quote
Phantom Scroller Posted May 26, 2016 Report Posted May 26, 2016 Andrew that was done deliberately to support the letters and make them all touch. I see what you mean in my experience when letters are separated apart they tend to snap if you drop it, unless it's really thick. Each to his own I have done tons of patterns letters separate and people bring them back saying can you fix this after me saying they are fragile beware. haa haa. :lol:Roly Dave Monk 1 Quote
Scrappile Posted May 26, 2016 Report Posted May 26, 2016 Very nice. I like the way the letter extends into the base. Make it look more like the base is part of the whole instead of just something for it to sit on. I know I done make any sense, but I understand me.... Phantom Scroller 1 Quote
