GrampaJim Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 My son coaches the soccer team that my 8 year old grandson play on. The season is ending and he wanted to do a gift for each of the kids. Out of a couple patterns I showed him, he selected this one by Steve Good. He wanted them to be cheap and quick to make. They turned out to be not so quick - (although Kevin probably done them in no time! ) Anyway, they are all 1/4 or 1/8" oak ply that I donated to the project and we used cheap 1/2" ACX ply for the backers. The bases are solid oak that my son had sitting around. Names or numbers were not required, so I was asked to paint the backers - blue for the 7 boys, and pink for the 5 girls. (Gave him some grief about not being politically correct! ) Everyone like them, personally I thought they were just so-so. amazingkevin and Birchbark 2 Quote

rjR Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 Great work! It always feels super to give some things where you know they will be appreciated! I bet the kids love them! Quote
wombatie Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 You probably had seen enough of them thats why they are only so so to you but to the kids and their families they look like gold medals. Well done Jim. Marg Quote
Rob Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 Those are great. I might have to look for that pattern for my son's team. Rob Quote
DWSUDEKUM Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 Jim those came out great. Since they are 1/4 you could easily stack cut 4 at a time and do a ton of them. Next thing you will know next season perhaps the other teams will be contacting you about doing some for their teams. Thanks for sharing these with us. DW Quote
Kepy Posted May 29, 2016 Report Posted May 29, 2016 Great project and I'll bet the kids loved them. Quote

I did stack cut the 1/4" parts. The 1/2" backers were one at a time. And the wheels are already turning for next years plans. Quote
