tmbits Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Well I guess its time to let the scroll community judge my work! I've seen many projects here that are simply wonderful! So I guess its my turn as a newbie to display mine. I've had my saw for a couple of years but never really took it terribly seriously until this year. My shop is VERY difficult to work in due to the fact that it is an old OLD house and therefore the wiring, lighting etc just isn't very easy to work with. But throughout time I've invented ways to make life a little easier and get to it! So here is some of my work. mostly completed in the last 2 weeks. Once I get started on one? I can't stop. I spend hours at the spot. Its become my Zen I'll post them in order from first completed project to last. amazingkevin, Old Joe, neptun and 5 others 8 Quote
Denny Knappen Posted June 6, 2016 Report Posted June 6, 2016 Wow, if that is your first, you are well on your way to a fun hobby. I can see a quality progression in your work. tmbits 1 Quote
tmbits Posted June 6, 2016 Author Report Posted June 6, 2016 Thank you so much Denny! I'm very eager to get going on more complex intricate custvbut my saw isn't very friendly to that. So I'm creating my own iserts etc. And of course paying close elattention to a lot of tip posts here! I have learned SO much from this forum!! Quote

Lucky2 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 For "newbie" you are doing extremely well! For ANYONE some of that is very fine work! Some unknown reason the mink is my favorite. Rob, I think that's an otter. Minks are much smaller and they have bushy tails similar to a squirrels tail. Len tmbits 1 Quote
Lucky2 Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Tim, if I was judging your work, I'd never think that your a newbie. Far from it, you've got some very nice looking projects here. Especially the horse one, that is very impressive to me. Len Quote
amazingkevin Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 If a newbie did this I'm going to take a refresher course "scrolling 101" Sharpen my pencils and get with the progam,I've been slacking way to long This is going to be the one to watch I'm telling you.Way to go Tim Quote

tmbits Posted June 7, 2016 Author Report Posted June 7, 2016 Wow! Nice to wake up and read these all. Again, thank you u so very much! Now im fired up to get out there and go go go! lol. And yes Rob that is an Otter actually. its Otter Sunning On A Rock. Ãm I the only one that is terribly frustrated with spiral blades?? I use an older Delta saw (was given to me when a very dear friend passed away) I'm not at all familiar of all the different sizes TPI, scroll speeds etc. But thanks to this forum I'm DEFINITELY getting there! But the spirals? They seem to push me to a whole new level of frustration. I find I'd rather stand there and spin the work around. Which does slow things down a LOT. Is it just me? Regardless. I thank all of you very much for your encouragement! Tim Quote
Kepy Posted June 7, 2016 Report Posted June 7, 2016 Very well done and you are justified in being proud. I'm especially partial to the horse, maybe because that fits my interest. I know sometimes that people think they have to have the finest equipment to create great work but that isn't true. Some of the members create some beautiful work with a hand fret saw. Better equipment can make it easier. I'm with you on spirals. They do have a place but it's in the back of my blade drawer and they only come out when the piece is too large for a straight blade.
