amazingkevin
I'm a good one at this,I cut 100 birdhouses and predrilled the holes.well i took a trip to the big box store for perches and they didn't have the size i drilled the holes for.Live and learn the hard way.Measure twice drill once.I do the same thing on assembling new tools or what ever ,don't read the instructions ,that will slow me down.I'll just dig in look at the completed picture and go from there.not good. Denny Knappen
Kevin, I use wood skewers found at Walmart. Works great. Just make sure you use the right size drill.

cmarsch
Use a slightly bigger dowel than the hole you drilled and taper the end by sanding a bit to fit in the hole like a wedge. Apply some glue and insert. amazingkevin
Lucky2
Kevin, what size hole did you drill, maybe you could make custom perches? I know it would be more work, but, it would help finish them up. Len
