New to this site but not scrolling

Some of you on this site may know me from the SSWWC site. I have been scrolling since about 2005. Love all things to do with the hobby and am a serious tool junkie, space permitting.  I have been a test cutter for Fox Chapel since 2010 they have challenged me over the years with some wonderful projects and I thank them for that.

I like new and challenging projects such as wooden gear clocks (I have built 3). Intarsia is my favorite form of scrolling as it allows for real creativity and changes to suit my taste. I also do lots of fretwork, especially ornaments as they have paid for every tool in my workshop.

These are some samples of my favorites. The clock is my most recent featured in Gadgets and Gizmos. The bass is a Judy gale Roberts design with some minor changes and aggressive shaping. The Moon ornament is a Volker Arnold design and my all time favorite ornament 4" x 4" x 1/16 (1.5mm)

First, WELCOME to the forum.  You do beautiful work.  The gear clock is one project I have wanted to try for eons but lack the confidence to attempt.  Did you cut the gears on the bandsaw or scroll saw or do you have a CNC tool?

I have some Volkner pattern that I will do this year.... no matter what.

You will find the pace a little different over here.  I still love Fox Chapel & scrollsawer.com and probably always will, but this place has it's own charm and has greatly supplemented my exposure to all thing scrollsaw.  Posting over here will also give a whole different/bigger audience exposure to your work.  I often double post to both groups as I have friends on both sides that only frequent one but not both forums.

That ol clock of yours made my mouth water,I guess that's a good thing! Very very well done in hard woods!

Thanks for the nice welcome!

Scrappile the clock was all done with a scroll saw. NO CNC. This is a fairly easy clock to cut because the gears don't have to mesh.

My moto "I don't know that I can't, therfore I can" carries me through many projects.

I am from the Midwest USA, and have little knowledge in the craft of scroll sawing. Have received a "hand-me-down " Hawk model G 426 that has been sitting in its original shipping box probably 15 - 20 years, but the saw appears to be in brand new condition. Don't know its $ worth or how it compares to other scroll saws (now & then), or if I should sell it, or learn to use it. Thanks for any related info to this saw is appreciated..

Woodchux., In my opinion you have one of the best scroll saws ever made. I have had my G426 for 11 years Only replaced a couple of minor parts in all of that time.

The saw top feeds easily has plenty of power. the blade motion (front to back is adjustable.

It is a $1400 saw. What a hand me down!! If you are at all interested in scrolling this is hang on to it!!

Here is a link to a great video on this saw.
