I have been doing the local Farmers Market for the past month and have done surprisingly well. Thought I would make a self portrait to use at my table. My pattern making and scrolling sure isn't as good as the veterans around here but what do you expect from a guy that is seven months into scrolling and pattern making. Spiral blades are sure a challenge no more than I use them. dave

Ha. you seem to be a practical man, now doesn't it make more sense to use a blade that cut all directions rather than having to move the board all over the place......

I like both types of blades, and switch back and forth to keep in practice.  There are places the spirals just work better, and places where they don't.

That is a great self portrait.  Nice job on the pattern and the cutting.  The pattern making is the hardest thing to me.  Just don't have the patients to go through all the steps required.

WOW, Dave, you did a fantastic job on that pattern & cutting both. You are a Natural for sure. It was a good idea to show the picture along with your piece. It really shows how well you did. Nothing better. I like the spiral blades & have to use a flat blade now & then just to keep in practice. It takes a lot to cut the sharp corners when you are used to just moving sideways. Sometimes I even stop the saw & turn the piece just so I don't have to cut sideways. Its breaks up the monotony of cutting. Thanks for letting us see your works. Appreciate it & keep up the good work.   Take Care
